After spending a week in Kentucky visiting vineyards, distilleries, and boating on Taylorsville Lake, we didn't think our trip could possibly get any better. We were wrong. We closed out our week with a private tour of Keeneland Race Park and Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Farm provided by Ken with Prime Horse Tours. Ken got us access to parts of the race track that we never imagined we'd see. His knowledge of the track and it's history provided a wealth of insight and made for a very enjoyable morning. However the highlight of the trip by far was the visit to Old Friends. Here Ken introduced us to past racing champions like Silver Charm and Touch Gold. He told us their stories and let us feed many of the wonderful horses on the property. His knowledge on each of the horses we visited was astounding. It was easy to see that Ken was very passionate about this place and with good reason. The farm is a wonderful residence for these retired horses to live out their days and Ken makes sure they and their history are not forgotten. The beauty of Ken's tours are that you can spend as much or as little time as you want at the places he takes you, so we were not rushed and were able to meet and feed many of the horses at Old Friends. If you find yourself in the Lexington area, give Ken a call and set up a private tour. You will not regret it!

The weather was chilly but that did not hamper our excitement to go tour Keeneland, Old Friends and some other places! Ken and Joyce, our personal guides were very accommodating and flexible not to forget their vast knowledge of the horses and the races and also their love for their four legged friends! We ourselves have a very soft spot for these animals and have taken in 6 rescue horses from the TRF and private farms! The tour of Keeneland was a first hand experience into the world of horse racing! Ken and Joyce took us around extensively from the private exclusive suites where the Queen of England once watched the races to the barns where the beautiful race horses were being taken care of! Then we went through beautiful scenic back roads to visit Hill & Dale Farm where Seattle Slew was kept to rest. Hill & Dale was especially special to us since one of our thoroughbred Paris was born here! One of the highlights were to be fortunate to see the moms and newly born foals! Old friends was a touching experience for us! Got to see lots of retired great race horses there! Here we could see how the horses were taken care with love! And that’s all they need now, a little TLC! All in all, we had the best tour! Knowledgeable, fun and above all enjoyable! Ken and Joyce are the best! We met them as guides but parted as friends! Thank you so much for the best experience in the horse capital of the world! Highly highly recommend Ken and Joyce if you want the best and enlightened tour of the horse world! 
Super fantastic tour! I can tell the guides truly love the horses and horse farms. They are enthusiastic and knowledgeable in great detail regarding all aspects of the horses. They seem to have an horse angel following them (lol) as everywhere we went something fantastic and unusual happened to brighten the tour with excitement. They knew exactly where to take us. Interesting and eventful. Will definitely be referring this personal tour to friends and family. And really look forward to returning to Lexington and having more time to see and learn more .

We recently decided to spend a day touring around Lexington and rather than do it on our own went through Prime Horse Tours. Ken and Joyce took us on a marvelous day trip where we were able to get up close and personal with Kentucky Derby winners at Old Friends, visit the exquisite race course Keeneland where they happen to be holding their January Sale. It was fascinating to watch and Ken and Joyce did a great job of explaining the process as well filling us in on the sport of horse racing. We drove through some back roads out in horse country where we saw the first foals of the season and were able to stop by a couple of the magnificent stallion farms. We learned quite a bit and thoroughly enjoyed the day. Ken and Joyce were so much fun to be with and we felt more like we were touring with friends than just a company. We highly recommend them if you are looking to visit horse country.

Prime Hotse Tours guides, Ken and Joyce, provided an up close and personalized horse experience! From standing right at the rail at a Keeneland for early morning race practice in pristine surroundings, to standing in the actual starting gates, to petting, feeding, and laughing with the horses at Old Friends, we were completely satisfied and entertained the entire tour! Ken and Joyce are very knowledgable guides and provided us with valuable information about the area and the horses.They were also flexible and accommodating.
We were so impressed,we brought family and friends for a second tour few weeks after we visited Old friends.
